Yaqian Huang (黄雅倩)

        

My name is pronounced as [ja˨˩ tɕʰjεn˥˩ xwaŋ˧˥].

Born in Hunan; raised in Xiamen, China.

MA in Linguistics & Cognitive Science at the University of Delaware.

PhD in Linguistics & Cognitive Science at the University of California, San Diego, dissertation titled “Phonetics of Period Doubling”.

Starting July 2025, I will be an Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Alberta. Currently, I am a Postdoctoral researcher at the Acoustics Research Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) in Vienna. Previously, I worked as a Lecturer in Phonetics at the University of California Los Angeles for the 2022-2023 academic year, where I taught phonetics, provided lab support, and gave workshops and tutorials on dimensionality reduction techniques and Shiny R.
